I’m originally from Findlay, Ohio, where I grew up creating and loving art with my two sisters. We have great a great story about markers at grandma's house if you're interested... I had amazing art teachers all through school and I can distinctly remember wanting to be an art teacher when I was in high school. I graduated from Bluffton University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education and moved to Columbus after I got married and have been here for almost 10 years and I love it.

I have worked at several children’s art camps and after school programs over the years. I spent 2 years after college substitute teaching, waiting for an art position to open. With no such luck, I took a temp job with Nationwide Insurance (to pay the bills of course) and 7 years later I’m still there, doing marketing and communications. To keep my creative interests up, I run a part time photography business focused on Senior Portraits. I have always felt drawn back to teaching and was blessed to find Art With Anna (a local studio and shop that teaches art classes to kids and adults)! I love being able to dabble in teaching art again!

*** Update! I am officially teaching art at Grove City Christian School as of Fall 2015.

Thank you Jesus!

My philosophy on art is that everything in life is art. What you do, how you do it, the way you dress, how you love, the way you write, the way you decorate your home, how you play and dream. It is all art to me. We were all made by a creator (God) and therefore are creators ourselves. It's in us all, in some form! I am passionate about making my life creative everyday and inspiring others around me to do the same.

I have a little bit of ADD when it comes to my interest in specific mediums – I love to try new things. But some of my favorite mediums are photography, watercolor, mixed media, ceramics, printmaking, outfits, accessories, home decor and a good black Sharpie. (I love Sharpies!) I am inspired by color, shapes, light and nature. I believe that Jesus Christ is the great creator and the ultimate artist. I find great beauty in His creation and His love in my life.

And if that’s not enough to keep me busy, I chase after my amazing and crazy 3 year old. I love sharing my love of art with her and watching her discover her own creativity.

This blog is my place to call my own, to have complete creative freedom, to share my creative process, techniques and to feed my deep need to teach and impart knowledge to others.

Here I hope you find inspiration and knowledge to use in your own creative journey and daily living.
